Planning, Preparation & Bonding Materials
Inspect panels, prepare the surface, and choose the right bonding material.
Before installation, inspect the panels, substrate, and jobsite conditions.
01 Required Tools
or a brad nailer
02 Prepare the Substrate
Confirm that the substrate is clean, dry, level, structurally sound, and compatible with the selected construction adhesive.
03 Plan the Layout
Before applying adhesive, confirm:
- Panel direction
- Joint and corner locations
- Cut dimensions
- Overall layout
04 Apply the Construction Adhesive
Apply the construction adhesive evenly to the back of the panel.
▶ Dot Application
Space adhesive dots evenly.
Apply adhesive to both the center and perimeter areas.
▶ Horizontal Bead Application
Apply multiple horizontal adhesive beads.
Keep the spacing between beads consistent.
Unless specifically required by the adhesive manufacturer, full-spread adhesive application is not recommended.
05 Install the Panel
Position the panel according to the planned layout.
▶ Before the adhesive begins to set, adjust:
- Horizontal and vertical alignment
- Joint width
- Texture alignment
Large-format panels should be installed by two people.
06 Press and Temporarily Secure
- Use a rubber roller to apply even pressure from the center of the panel toward the edges.
- If the panel slides or the edges lift, use tape, support braces, or brad nails for temporary support.
- Place brad nails along edges, joints, or other areas that can be easily repaired.
Brad nails are only for temporary support and must not replace the construction adhesive.
07 Cleaning and Curing
- Remove excess adhesive immediately.
- Do not move the panels or remove temporary supports until the adhesive has fully cured.
- Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for curing time.
